Vera Soroka Miller, 91, passed away January 9, 2017 at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah. Vera was born December 15, 1925, in Dubrowka, Poland. The youngest daughter of Petro and Tekla Kopycia Schafranski.
She married Ivan Soroka in Germany, September 1946. Ivan died September 8, 1970. She married Loren Perkins Miller August 28, 1975. Later they were sealed for Time and All Eternity, November 15, 1977 in the Ogden temple.
Vera learned hard lessons at a very young age. She was taken from her family and put on a work farm at the age of 7 during World War II. During her life she overcame many difficult circumstances. She endured bombings all of her young life. She would say she quit hiding when bombs fell because it was so frequent and she always prayed and knew God would protect her. She was placed in a German camp where she lost contact with her entire family and was never reunited. Her tenacity, stubbornness and courage allowed her to survive her life trials. She always was the happiest and kindest person and never let the circumstances define who she was. She was happy with a simple life and never took anything for granted. Her courage shown as she brought her young family to America to give them a better life. They arrived in Cornish, Utah, where they worked on a farm paying the farmer who sponsored them the cost of coming to America. They later lived and worked on farms in College Ward and Trenton Utah. She worked at Sunshine Terrace for 16 years. She lived and raised her children most of her life in Wellsville Utah.
Her children and grandchildren will always remember her by her sass, infectious laugh and beautiful smile that would light up a room. Words that would sum up her character are stubborn, kind, unconditional love, courageous, humble and sweet. She embraced life and the little moments. We will miss the strongest woman we ever knew. We will miss her constant prayers and her I love you's in her cute thick polish accent. She taught her family to always love no matter the circustances and to never ever give up. She was an angel on earth and we were lucky to call her Mother, Grandmother and best friend. Through all her trials she gained a very strong testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ and truly earned her sweet angel wings.
She is preceded in death by her husbands' Ivan Soroka and Loren Miller, grandson Willie Tune and great grandsons', Joshua Cunningham and Shaun Eric Bundy. She is survived by daughters Mary Tune (Willie), Hila Soroka (Sam) and son Ivan Soroka.
