Verla Olson

Verla Bell Nield Olson, 91, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2014. She was born on July 27, 1923 in Afton, WY, the only daughter of Dan and Maud Nield. She graduated from Star Valley High School in 1941. She married Ralph A. Olson in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 13, 1942. They made their homes in Star Valley, Wyoming, Salmon, Idaho, moving to Millville, Utah in 1953 where they raised their family. She worked for Allen’s Lady Store in Logan, Utah and retired from Utah State University in the housing department.
Mom was an active member of the LDS church serving in various leadership positions in the ward and stake. Mom and Dad served as officiators in the Logan LDS Temple. They also served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the California Anaheim mission and the California Fresno mission.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, one son and their spouses: Karla (DelMar) Anderson, Millville; Ranee (Bruce) Richman, Pocatello, Idaho; Robyn (Ronald) Jenson, Millivlle; Dawn (Kevin) Roberts, Hyrum; and Rex (Debbie) Olson, Kaysville, Utah; 21 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 2 brothers.
We are grateful that Mom could spend Christmas morning on earth with us, and Christmas evening with our Dad in heaven. We love you, Mom!
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Millville First Ward church, 110 South Main, Millville. There will be a viewing held Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary at 34 East Center, Logan. There will also be a viewing held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at the Millville Cemetery.
