She was born on October 18, 1917, the first of seven children born to David L. and Marion Nelson Olsen. Verna married Marden Arthur Turner in the Logan Temple, August 20, 1942. They made their home in Young Ward and were blessed with a family of three sons and three daughters. Marden passed away in 1975.
Verna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings throughout her life. She served missions to the Western States (1939) and California, Anaheim (1982), worked in the Logan Temple for many years and spent untold hours as a missionary in the Logan Genealogical Library. She was an expert in Danish research teaching classes in reading and understanding Danish records. She was among the first to do extraction work before the Extraction Program was established. She served in many positions in the Primary organization, particularly as chorister for more than a decade. She was also highly involved in the 4-H program.
Verna was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than to be with her family. She will be greatly missed.
