GONE FISHING
The streams and rivers around Logan are running a
little more quiet today and the fish have given a sigh
of relief. The master fisherman has laid down his pole
for the last time.
Vernal Thorpe Ferguson died Monday, October 25th, a
result of a vehicle-pedestrian accident. He was born
November 9th, 1934 to James Leon and Della Thorpe
Ferguson. He grew up in Logan at a time when families
worked and played hard together. He developed a strong
work ethic, which he continued to use during his
lifetime. He was a roofer by trade, the quality of his
work is apparent on homes and buildings throughout the
valley. His speed and thoroughness in his work, was
always appreciated. He married Joan Ashliman, then
later divorced. From this union they had five
children: Randy, Danny, Sharlene, Vickie, and a son
that passed at birth. He then married Judy Reeder,
later divorced. They had one son: Justin. Later he
married Dixie Storm (deceased). Later he then married
Judy Rose, (divorced), and had five children:
Ryan(deceased), Shawn, Jessie, James, and Sandra.
After his retirement, he devoted most of his time
raising a large and abundant garden at his home. The
fruits of his efforts were shared with everyone he
came in contact with. The same was true with his
fishing. He loved to give his catch of the day to
someone else to enjoy.
He loved Cache Valley and the opportunities it
provided to spend time in the mountains hunting deer
and elk and in the fields and marshes to hunt duck and
pheasants. He was truly an outdoors type of guy.
He had a host of friends whom he loved to share
stories with. They were like family to him sharing
many outings and providing care and concern for his
daily needs. He was a friend to everyone and
everywhere he went there was someone he knew who would
stop him to visit. The Family thanks all of you for
these
friendships.
Vernal is survived by his children, his sister Carol
Benson and family-Murray, sister-in-law Janae Lewis
and her family, fourteen Grandchildren, and eight
Great Grand Children. He was preceded in death by his
parents, one brother Don, and one son Ryan.
