Verner James Lewis, 91, passed away on August 23, 2022 peacefully in his home. He was the only child of Walter Conway Lewis and Nora Elsa Jenson.
He was born on April 24, 1931 in Millville, Utah. Vern grew up working and playing on a farm where he gained a life long love for horses. He especially enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling in the great outdoors.
He married Antoinette (Toni) Bindrup on June 24, 1955 in Las Vegas. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple on October 5, 1978. They recently celebrated their 67th anniversary.
Vern enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in The Ancon Canal Zone in Panama where he served as a Machine Gun Instructor. Vern always believed in hard work and honesty. Some of his employment throughout his life included working at/owning a service station, hanging drywall, and in his later years, doing custodial work and supplying churches with needed supplies.
Vern had a great love for the temple and served in the baptistry for many years. He will be remembered with great fondness because of his kindness, love, hard work, service and friendly teasing nature. It has been said of him that he didn’t work at being a tease, it just came naturally. We will miss him but are comforted to know that we will see him again.
He is survived by his wife (Toni) and two sons. Dean (Marie) Lewis and Don (Cheryl) Lewis. He has 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
