Vesta Halling Riggs Obituary
Vesta Halling Riggs, 89, passed away at the home of her daughter in Wellsville, Utah on May 2,2007.
She was born on September 14, 1917, in Mantua, Utah to Helaman Cannon and Leona Marie Jorgenson Halling. On April 8, 1936, Vesta married Earl Jones Riggs in the Logan LDS Temple. They had three children: Sharon, Dennis, and Sam.
Vesta worked at Dewey's Lunch in Hyrum, Utah for over 20 years. She retired to care for her husband Earl, for 11 years until his passing on December 27, 1983. Grandma will be remembered for the Sunday dinners she faithfully prepared for the whole family. She took great pride in her home and yard, in crocheting, and taking grandkids shopping, to lunch, and movies on Saturdays.
Vesta is survived by her children Sharon Riggs, Wellsville, Teena Riggs (daughter in-law), Wellsville, and Sam (Lorraine) Riggs, Logan; brother Lynn Halling, Mantua, Utah, and sister Afton Holladay Robinson, Magna, Utah. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great­grandson.
Vesta was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, son Dennis, great-granddaughter Taylor Jo Andrus, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 5,2007, at 1 :00 PM in the Wellsville Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net .
