Vicki Zumbrunnen McNeil
July 10, 2013
Vicki Zumbrunnen McNeil beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend
passed from this mortal existence at home surrounded by loved ones into the loving
arms of her Heavenly Father due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Vicki was
born June 28th, 1948 to Calvin and Lucille Zumbrunnen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She
graduated with honors from Olympus High School where she was active in stage
crew and scouting. After graduation she moved to Logan, Utah to study at Utah
State University.
Vicki met Weston McNeil while working on the USU Homecoming Float and they
later married on June 29th, 1967 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they were
blessed with seven children. Vicki had many remarkable talents. She was a gifted
artist, poet and baker (especially her famous rolls). She will always be remembered
for her smile and dancing in the kitchen.
Of her many accomplishments, she was most proud of being a Mother and
Grandmother. She devoted her life to her children. She taught them laughter,
compassion, selflessness and unconditional love. Later she taught those same
qualities to her grandchildren who were the joy of her life. Even in her difficult last
days on earth, her grandchildren could always make her smile. Vicki took the time
to develop a special and unique relationship with each grandchild.
Vicki was a faithful and obedient member of the LDS Church. She never doubted her
testimony of the Savior. She had a special understanding and profound love for the
gospel and always stood for the right. She diligently served in many church callings
including Relief Society and Young Women's President.
Vicki is survived by her husband Weston, children Brett (Aimee) McNeil, Lisa (Paul)
Barr, Shelly (Mo) Tiev, Mark (Shauna) McNeil, Jacob (Jennie) McNeil, Joseph
(Melinda) McNeil and Marley (Eric) Wahlstrom; twenty-one grandchildren; brothers
Arnie (Martha) Zumbrunnen, and Steven (MaryJo) Zumbrunnen; as well as many
nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceeded in death by her parents and brother
(Cory Zumbrunnen).
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Cache Valley Assisted
Living for helping Wes take such good care of Vicki. Specifically, gratitude to Gaby,
Kristen, Kelly, Buffy, Merilee, Pam and AFI Hospice for keeping her comfortable and
maintaining her dignity during her final days.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July, 15th starting at noon at the Meadow Lane Ward (180 S. 485 W. Providence, UT). A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 E. Center St. Logan, Utah) and prior to services at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
