LOGAN, UTAH: Virgil Lyle Black, 85, passed away
peacefully at home surrounded by those who loved him
on Friday, 17 November 2006 in Logan Utah. He was born
17 March 1921 outside of May, Idaho to Joseph Francis
and Nellie Cordelia Basinger Black, the 6th of 13
children. He graduated form high school in Salmon
Idaho. He served in the US Navy, Pacific Theater,
during World War II after which he served a mission
for the LDS Church in the Texas-Louisiana Mission.
While serving in the Bishopric in Salmon Idaho he met
Carol Ann Bodily. They married in the Logan Temple and
settled in Salmon Idaho where they welcomed 4
children. They moved to Logan Utah in 1959 and made
their home there until the time of his death. Until
his retirement, he was employed by the US Government.
He is survived by his immediate family, wife Carol, 4
children, Christy Ann (West Jordan), V. Bruce and
Debbie (Logan),
I. Neal and Jill(Providence), and Marilynn and Kerry
Whittle (West
Jordan), two brothers, Art and Harriett(Ogden, Ut),
Clarence and Nada
(Blackfoot, Id), his 8 grandchildren and 5
great-grandchildren. He loved being with his family.
He had a special love for animals, particularly horses
and dogs. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, gardening,
and beautiful sunsets.
Funeral services will be at the Allen-Hall Mortuary on
Tuesday, 21 November at 11:00 AM . One hour prior to
services at the Mortuary friends may pay their
respects to the family. Burial will be in the
Providence Cemetery with a military tribute. In lieu
of flowers, the family requests donations to Primary
Childrens Medical Center, 100 North Medical Drive, SLC, Utah 84113 or IHC Hospice services who have the
gratitude of the family for their care and kindness in
