Virginia Lee Burrell was born on her family’s dairy farm, Sagamore Farm, in Paradise, Utah on July 25th, 1923. She will be laid to rest in the Paradise Cemetery on April 6th, 2018, with her sons Brett and Bill and her special niece Susie at her side.
Virginia was a strong, resilient and independent woman with a deep love for her family and friends and a great devotion to her church. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She will be greatly missed by the many people she served and loved.
Virginia had a lovely childhood growing up on the family farm with her sister and four brothers, who were her best friends. It was there that she acquired her love of animals, especially cats. She and her sister used the cats as dolls in their younger years and as she matured and had a home of her own, there was always a cat or two present.
After graduating from Utah State University with a degree in Home Economics and Secretarial Science, she met the love of her life, LaVon Burrell. They were married in the front parlor at her beloved Sagamore Farm in 1948 and later sealed in an LDS temple. They spent 60 loving years together supporting each other’s various pursuits and interests.
Virginia spent time as a Junior High and Kindergarten teacher, five years serving as her ward’s relief society president and many years serving in her favorite capacity as a homemaker. She was a craftsperson with many talents, using her creations to make over 15 beautiful homes for her family. She was also generous with those talents, sharing her beautiful creations with many.
Virginia is survived by her two son Brett Burrell (Nancy), Bill Burrell (Debbie), grandchildren Colin Burrell, Brandi Burrell Merhege (Ken) and great grandson Jaxon Merhege.
Rest in peace Mom and give Dad a kiss for us. We love you.
