Vivian Johnson

June 4, 1954 — December 31, 2011

Our very beautiful and special daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, Vivian Irene Johnson, 57, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, Saturday December 31, 2011, into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father after a short battle with cancer. She was under the care of her family and Intermountain Home Care Health and Hospice.

Vivian was born June 4, 1954, in Basin, Wyoming, to Edward Shumway and Irene Jones Johnson. She grew up in Otto, Wyoming, and Ogden, Utah. She lived in Los Angeles, California and then put roots down in Richmond, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High School and then graduated from Weber State College with an Associates degree. She has been employed by Utah State University for more than 30 years where she has many friends.

Vivian did not have the privilege of being a mother but she was a second mother to every one of her nieces and nephews whom she loved and supported in everything they did they in turn loved and appreciated her. She attended numerous ball games, dance recitals, plays and anything the nieces and nephews were involved in. Even while she was taking chemo she was still supportive of her nephews by going and sitting through a ball game.

Vivian was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in the Primary for many years where she was also a second mother to many primary children whom she taught and loved. She enjoyed serving in the Primary. She served in many positions. She was also a devoted visiting teacher.

Vivian is survived by her mother, Irene Johnson, siblings, Stephen (Robba Lee) Johnson of Layton, Utah, Leslie Johnson of North Salt Lake, Utah, Lillian (Randy) Tripp of Richmond, Utah, Evelyn (Richard) Nelson of Hamer, Idaho, Lori Johnson, Colleen Hamblin, and Robert Johnson of Richmond, Utah, and Phillip (Kammy) Johnson of Smithfield, Utah, 13 nieces, 22 nephews and 14 grand nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her father, Edward Johnson, paternal grandparents, Seth and Dagmar Johnson, maternal grandparents Rulon and Mildred Jones, and grand-nephew Kyle McCoy Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the Richmond 2nd Ward, 150 South 100 East, with Bishop Robert Whitman officiating. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Richmond 2nd Ward, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
