Von J Taylor

Surrounded by his loving family, Von J Taylor, 84, of Providence, Utah, passed away on September 21, 2023. He was born in Fillmore, Utah, to Von B and Lelia Mae (Carling) Taylor on December 14, 1938. He is survived by his beautiful wife Joan: children, Sherri Lynn (Glen) Jacobson, Douglas Von (Heather) Taylor, Lyle Robert (Nadine) Taylor, Jennifer (Wes) Fields, and Melanie (Jim) Gardner; siblings, LeeAnne (Dave) Goodwin, Max (Janice) Taylor, and Toni (Jim) Faris. He has 22 grandchildren (Matthew Hilton, deceased) and 9 great-grandchildren. He loved them all dearly.

Von attended Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah, where he was an all-state football player and
wrestler. He sang in a barbershop quartet and played in the band. Music was always important to him. He attended BYU and played football for one year before serving in the East Central States Mission. When he returned, he finished his degree at the University of Utah.

Von married his love and best friend Joan Wadsworth on June 7, 1963, in the Logan Utah Temple. They shared 60 wonderful years together. He had a master’s degree in telecommunications and worked for energy and gas companies. His career took them from Utah to Idaho, Michigan, Colorado, and Texas. He retired as a director of telecommunications for Coastal Corporation in Houston, Texas, in 2001.

Von was a quiet man with a great sense of humor. Family was most important to him, and he loved camping with them. The highlight was Family Camp every July where great memories were made. Photography has been a lifelong enjoyment for him, especially taking scenic and nature shots. He enjoyed fly fishing, tying flies, and making fly rods. After he retired, he spent many hours doing family search and helping others. He served a four-year church service mission at the Logan Family Search Library.

Von was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various
leadership positions. His faith was strong and unwavering. He was kind and loving and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 29th at the Fox Ridge Chapel, located at 155 North 100 East, in Providence, Utah. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30 and funeral services will begin at noon.
