W LaVan (Bill) Gleed, 87, of Logan passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at the
Legacy House Assisted Living Center.
Bill was born in Clifton, Idaho on Sept. 14, 1928 to William and Eva Thorpe Gleed.
He was the youngest of 10 children and his father was a railroad worker so they moved
many times throughout his youth living in Montana, Idaho and Utah. He followed in his father’s
and older brothers footsteps and started working for the Union Pacific railroad at age 18,
retiring after 44 years.
He met the love of his life, Ruby Colleen Young at the Modern Drug store. They were married in Logan on Dec. 13, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. They have three children, Michael, Donna and Jeffery and raised their family in Logan.
Bill served faithfully in various callings including Bishop of the Logan 6th ward. He took pride in his home and enjoyed improving and taking care of his house and yard. Bill and Colleen enjoyed spending time with extended family, especially family reunions and trips together.
He was blessed with many great neighbors and often stated how much they appreciated those
good neighbors and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife Colleen and children, Michael (Melody) Gleed, Smithfield, Donna (Kent) Alder, North Logan and Jeffery (Kathy) Gleed, Perry Ut. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers and a grandson,
Colby Gleed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January14, 2016 at the Logan 6th Ward Chapel, 100 West 600 South. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan, and from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church prior to the service.
