Wanda P. Roskelley Dowies

October 29, 1915 — June 25, 2008

Wanda P. Roskelley Dowies, 92, completed this life's journey June 25, 2008, in Mesa, Ariz.
She was born Oct. 29, 1915, in Preston, Idaho, to Leo James and Chloe Clayton Peterson, the second of five daughters. She attended school in Preston. In 1935, she married Arthur Franklin Roskelley. They were the parents of three children, Arlene McDonald (Ron), Renae Schiess (Dean) and Conrad Roskelley (Louise). They moved to Logan, Utah, in 1941 and raised their family there. Wanda was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions, her favorite being a temple worker.
Wanda worked at the Mode O' Day dress factory. Throughout her life, she was an amazing care giver. When her son Conrad was injured in a swimming accident and became paralyzed, she cared for him for 11 years, until he married. She also cared for her mother after she had a stroke. Wanda and Arthur moved to Arizona in 1973 to be near their children. Arthur passed away in 1975. Wanda married Elmer Dowies in 1977. She loved his daughter, Carrie, as her own. When Elmer retired, they enjoyed traveling in an RV. They were married six years when he passed away. Wanda loved to travel. She visited the Holy Land and many other faraway places. Eventually, friends introduced her to Lester Skousen. They married and Wanda loved his big family. She loved going to the Colonies in Mexico where Lester had lived during his early life. They had 10 years together.
Our mother was our friend. She made the best carrot cakes for birthdays, and loved her family and friends dearly. She is survived by her children; a sister, Jean Seamons; her extended family; and many, many grand, great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Coronado Ward, 2202 N. 74th St., Scottsdale, with a visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. She will be buried next to Arthur on July 3, 2008, in the Logan City Cemetery. A viewing will be held that morning from 10 to 11 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 32 E. Center, Logan, with burial at noon. Our thanks to Sharon and Steve at the Golden Age Care Home and Hospice of the Valley, for taking such good care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity, Hospice of the Valley or the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund. Local arrangements are by Bunker's Garden Chapel, 480-964-8686.
