Wayne W. Wimmer ended his battle with cancer peacefully at his home in
Logan, UT on April 25, 2015.
He was born to Acel F. Wimmer and Dora Little on December 13, 1929, in
Logan, UT where he lived his whole life.
Wayne met JoAnn Steers at the Persiana Dance Hall in Preston, ID. He
always said she was the “prettiest girl at the dance”. Two years later on
January 12, 1949, they were married in the Logan LDS Temple.
He attended Logan City Schools, graduating from Logan High School, and
Utah State University in Civil Engineering.
He loved his country, leaving JoAnn and a 10 month old son to serve as an
Army Master Sergeant in Korea. His final Army rank was Second
Lieutenant.
Wayne was the owner/operator of Wimmer’s Sewing Machine and Vacuum
store until his retirement in 1993. He invested in real estate throughout his
life and since retirement he had been an active stock trader.
Wayne and JoAnn travelled extensively throughout the years visiting China,
Japan, Korea, Africa, South America, most of Western Europe and all 50
States.
He was a member of the American Legion and a charter member of the
Sports Academy and Racquet Club where he swam laps frequently. He felt
it was important to exercise your body and mind every day.
He was a skilled carpenter and woodworker and could fix anything and the
homes of his family reflect those skills and his love for them. His hobbies
were his work, his family, and walking.
For the last 20 years Wayne & JoAnn spent the winters in their second
home in Las Vegas, NV.
He was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 66 years JoAnn, his 6 children: Richard
“Dick” (Kathy) of Henderson, NV; Karen (Michael) Finn of Brownstone
