Wendell J. (Whimp) Peterson
North Logan - Wendell J. Peterson, 73, died Sunday July 8,2007 at the Logan Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones, after an extended illness.
He was born March 27, 1934 in Cove, Utah, to Benjamin LeRoy and LaRene Louise Wilhelm Peterson.
Whimp was a life-long resident of Cache Valley. He was educated in Cache County schools. He served honorably for 3 years in the United States Army as a tank operator spending most of his service in Germany.
He married Connie Jean Richardson December 20, 1969.Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They raised their family in Smithfield and just recently relocated to a new home in North Logan.
Whimp worked for Thiokol Corporation in Promontory, Utah where he retired as a supervisor in 1999. He made many life long friendships with co-workers during his career.
Whimp is survived by his wife of North Logan; one son Michael (Lee Ann) of Newton, one daughter Michelle (David) Welker of Nib ley; and six grandchildren.
He is also survived by four brothers and four sisters: Ben (Cheryl) West Jordan, Kenneth (Jeni) Farr West, Lamoine (Roxy) Providence, Keith (Jenny) McCulloch Kansas City, Lorna (Richard) Moscatiello Ogden, Karen (Erwin) Frederick Providence, Phyllis (Rex) Ewer Salt Lake City, Janice (Wayne) Rasmussen Providence. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister; Blaine McColloch and Shirley Nixon.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in the Smithfield 14th ward chapel 345 East 300 South, Smithfield with Bishop Craig Nielsen conducting.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen Mortuary 420 East 1800 North, North Logan and at the church from 10:30 to 11 :30 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Smithfield City cemetery.
The family would like to thank the offices of Dr. Michael Stones, Dr. Charles Swallow, Terryl Hunsaker, the staff of Cache Valley Oxygen and Logan Regional Hospital ICCU for all their compassion and support.
