Wilda Fern Olson Perry, age 94, passed away October 18, 2014 at her home in Dayton, Idaho. She was born November 14, 1919 in Osmond, Lincoln County, Wyoming, the daughter of Charles Afton Olson and Eula Cecil Cline Olson. Fern was the third of eight children. She was raised and attended school in Osmond and Afton, Star Valley, Wyoming.
Fern married Elmer Reed Perry Sr. on June 2, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Willard, Utah and moved to farm in Dayton, Idaho in October 1958.
Fern served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the then California and Northern California Mission for eighteen months in 1941 and with her husband to the Arkansas Little Rock Mission in 1981. Singing and music were delightful experiences for her. Fern was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many callings.
Fern was the loving mother of ten children. She is survived by four daughters: Lyn (Frank) Moyle, Salt Lake City, UT; Joyce (Mike) Dansie, Dayton, ID; Loretta (Jack) Rowe, Orem, UT; Vivian (Steve) Bienz, Laurel, MD; five sons: E. Reed (Sharon) Perry Jr., Logan, UT; Dennis G. (Liz) Perry, Cary, N.C.; Milton C. Perry, Denver, CO; Joseph A. (Claudia) Perry, Jackson, WY; and Jacob L. (Sophia) Perry, Silver Spring, MD; 32 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Reed Perry Sr.; a son, Nathan K. Perry; three grandsons: Brian J. Perry, Jonathan M. Bienz, David B. Bienz, two sisters: Joyce Ashment, Carol Helm, and two brothers: Melvin Olson and Dean Olson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2014, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel with Bishop Gregg Perry, a grandson, conducting. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2014 and from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services on Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be at the Willard, Utah Cemetery.
