William D. Pitcher

May 25, 1930 — September 7, 2016

William (Bill) DeVore Pitcher May 25, 1930 –Sept 7, 2016 was called back to his heavenly home to be united with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his eternal companion Alice Joyce Fullmer. He passed away surrounded by his loving family who will all miss him greatly.
He was born May 25, 1930 to Willie DeConn and Rosie Pitcher in Cornish, Utah. Dad is the third of four children. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Bonnie (Richard) Lufkin, Peggy (Farrell) Miles and Bruce (Shirley) Pitcher. As well as in-law’s Florin and Ruby Fullmer, brother–in–law Grant (Marrianne) Ballam, son-in-law Craig Johnson and great granddaughter Brittany Ann Rock.
Dad felt blessed to be able to grow up on the family farm in Cornish. He always loved farming and learned at an early age to have a very strong work ethic. If it was within his power he never missed a day of work.
He married his high school sweetheart Joyce Fullmer on Sept. 29, 1947. Together they had six children, Terri (Bob) Zeller, Kim (Paula), Kandis (Clair) Christoffersen, Shari (Jef) Hoggan, Rick (Connie) and Dina (Floyd) Naegle. Their posterity includes 24 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. They made their first home in Ogden and later in Cornish, then settled in Benson to raise their family.
Dad had a great love for the outdoors, especially for hunting and fishing. He never missed an opportunity to teach those he loved the joy of fishing. He loved watching the Jazz and was a true blue Aggie fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. We as his family are grateful for his strong testimony of the Savior and belief that prayers are always answered. Dad is a great example of unselfish service. He has spent many hours quietly leaving care packages to family and friends, he would give the last dollar he had away to someone he thought needed it. Dad opened his home to many family members who needed a place to live whether it was for a day or for years. His unselfish love for his family is unmeasurable. Dad and Mom had 46 years together. We are so thankful for his loving example of devotion to our Mom. Even in the last five months of her life when she was too ill and unable to do anything for herself because of cancer, Dad insisted on taking care of her. He put Mom’s needs above his own without even thinking about it. He has a genuine Christ like heart. Dad has valiantly played the hand that he’s been dealt, battling polio, accidents, post polio, and a major stroke without ever wanting to show any signs of pain, but rather with his bright blue eyes always shining of his Savior’s spirit due to his faith.
In January of 2000 our Dad married Marlene Gibbs who loved him very much. They had many wonderful years together. Her children from her first marriage are: Richard Val Lower(deseased), Patricia Ann Smith, Brenda Jean Maughan, Valene Naegle, Launa Lee Lishman, Nancy Lynett Schlieper.
