HYRUM, UTAH: William Daniels Pack (Dan) 65 died Wednesday, July 23, of a sudden heart attack. Dan began life on July 19, 1943, born to Bonna Lue Daniels and William Donald Pack. He had a great love for music, which began at age three, when his mother bought him a violin. He has studied and taught music ever since, obtaining advanced degrees (including a PhD) in music education and performance from both Utah State and BYU. He taught music for the rest of his life. He was also a great student and teacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served a mission for the LDS church in Germany and has served faithfully in many church callings. On April 6, 1978 he was married to his eternal companion, Janet Yearsley, with whom he has raised eight children.
He took great joy in his children and loved helping them to develop their talents. He always told them that it was more fun to watch them perform and accomplish things than it had been to do them himself. He was a great teacher because he refused to quit learning.
This dedicated father, son, brother, and teacher now leaves his wife, children, mother, and eight brothers and sisters to continue his work beyond the veil.
Dan’s funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Hyrum Stake Center (600 South 200 East). There will be a viewing Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 am. He will be buried in Logan City Cemetery.
