William Kenneth Johnson
1942 – 2010
LOGAN – William Kenneth Johnson, beloved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend, peacefully entered the presence of our Heavenly Father and into the arms of his parents on September 9, 2010 at the age of 68, due to complications of illness.
Bill was born in Logan, UT on April 29, 1942 to William Alton Johnson and Ella Eugena Jones.
Bill grew up in Logan and attended Logan City Schools. At the age of eight his father passed away, and he became the man of the house. He later dropped out of school to provide for his family.
Bill was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held several callings throughout the years.
Bill entered into marriage with his beloved eternal companion, Carolyn Humphreys, on July 31, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Bill worked as a laborer at the Hyrum turkey farm, Trenton feed, a brick mason, as custodian at USU, and at the age of 22 he began working at the Defense Depot in Ogden where he retired after 33 years. He also had a small farm that he ran throughout the years with a close friend.
Bill enjoyed doing everything with his family: camping, hunting, fishing, and travelling. He also enjoyed working on vehicles and collecting odd and ends. He has a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, one brother David Donald (Joyce) of Brigham City, UT, three sons, Kenneth William (Sammy) of Inkom, ID, Tony (Debbie) of Millville, UT, David Nathan (Amy) of Lewiston, UT, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, three sisters, Laura Mills, Sharron Grignon, and Nylene Tanner, his parents, and various aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at noon in the Park Avenue Ward Chapel, 940 Three Point Avenue, Logan. There will be a viewing Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, and at the Church on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services.
