Yula Jessop

YULA JOHNSON JESSOP, wonderful homemaker, mother of 8 children, grandmother of 26, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 at her Orem residence. She was 71 years of age and died from the complications resulting from a series of strokes in her later years.

Yula Johnson Jessop was born September 8, 1940 in Avon, Utah, the oldest daughter of the late Leonard Earl and Evelyn West Johnson.

She graduated from North Cache High School in 1958 and attended Utah State University. She served an LDS mission in Texas. Upon returning from her mission, she married her sweetheart, Valdon Jessop, in the Logan LDS Temple on February 14, 1963 and lived her life as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Val lived in many parts of the country including Utah, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, and primarily Collierville Tennessee. She served in leadership positions in the Primary, Young Women's and Relief Society organizations. Her greatest delight was serving her family as a homemaker. Her mothering extended beyond her immediate family; she loved caring for many friends of her children, feeding them wonderful meals and giving them great advice. She was an amazing cook and loved to garden. Her hands were always busy and her house was filled with her many talents that included oil paintings and many other creative endeavors. She was a talented soprano and performed in many different choirs and musicals through the years.

She is survived by her mother-in-law, Alta Jessop; her sons and daughters-in-law: Kevin & Dalliene Jessop, Darrin & Lisa Jessop and Jeremy & Angela Jessop; her daughters and sons-in-law: Melanie & Ron Lockwood, Tonya & Mark Crosby, Heidi & Bill Andersen, Tara & Ben Ogden, Cherise & Brady Camp; her siblings: Leroy Johnson, Delmar Johnson, Brent Johnson, Marjorie Leslie, Jolene Parkin, Sharee M. Johnson, Gary Johnson, Kent Johnson, Debbie Kozlowski, ; and her sweet prized possessions-her grandchildren: Katelyn, Elizabeth, Alexander, Andrew, Jack, Maxwell, Ashlyn, Bennett, Jade, Mitchell, Olivia, Brigitte, Braxton, Kylie, Kendall, Chloe, Myles, Samantha, Evelyn, Caroline, Emma, Seth, Preston, Ella, Everett and Cameron.

Funeral services for Yula are scheduled for Monday, August 27th, 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Millville, Utah (110 North Main St.). Interment will follow the funeral services on Monday at the Millville. A viewing will take place on Sunday from 6-8pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary at 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah and at the Millville ward house on Monday from 9:30-10:30am.
