Zilla Winger-Buchanan

April 10, 1915 — January 1, 2012

Zilla Talbot Winger-Buchanan returned to her heavenly home on "the first" of January, 2012.
She was born April 10, 1915 in Winder, Idaho, the eldest of five daughters and one son to Edward Percel and Alice Taylor Talbot.
Zilla married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Nowland Winger, on April 4, 1934, in the Logan LDS Temple. They had four children: Joseph Larry, Hyrum Doyle, Rhonda, and Edward Talbot.
From her youth she was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She used her creativity in giving talks, readings, and performing in dramatic productions.
As an adult, she loved decorating her home and yard. Her love of fashion was reflected in her wardrobe and collection of jewelry. Writing was a passion; she wrote poetry and two volumes of autobiography. Because of her love of the arts, she helped her children develop their musical talents.
Zilla served in the MIA for over thirty years and had a great love for young people.
She also served in Relief Society presidencies in various capacities.
After forty-two years of marriage, Joseph passed away on June 16, 1976.
Zilla served in the Logan LDS Temple where she met Leland Buchanan. They married on March 2, 1984. Living in Twin Falls for the next eleven years, they were able to serve in the Boise Temple. To be closer to her family, they moved to Logan in 1995. Leland passed away January 4, 2000.
Zilla is survived by daughter, Rhonda (Sheldon) Barfuss; son, Ed (Marie) Winger; daughters-in-law, Beverly Winger and Beverly Folsom; twenty grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Cleo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Joe and Lee; sons Larry and Doyle; two great-granddaughters; three great grandchildren; sisters Nona, Dorothy, Ruth, and brother, Percel.
As a family, we express appreciation to the friends and neighbors of Spring Haven and the Bridgerland Park 1st Ward who have helped watch over Zilla since Lee's passing. We also express our gratitude to Dr. Robert Nash and to the staffs of Intermountain Homecare Hospice and Sunshine Terrace for their care during her brief stay.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the Bridgerland 1st Ward Chapel, 825 North 200 West in Logan. A viewing will be held prior to services at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Interment will be in the Preston, Idaho Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
